My History
On Sunday 28th I had the pleasure of returning to Mottarone, or rather to the Mottarone Park, which has become a truly small area for free time in both winter and summer.
I met the mountain, 1490 meters high, which is only 75 km from Legnano, about 30 years ago.
E l’ho vista crescere. Nella sua evoluzione ho visto la/le trasformazioni: ho approfittato e “usufruito” di passeggiate sia d’estate come un “salto” al fresco a godersi il panorama, ma anche d’inverno per far “fare” i primi passi a Fede e Reby.,. ed ora a Riccardo.
From up here it is possible to observe seven lakes: Lake Maggiore, Lake Mergozzo, Lake Varese, Lake Orta, Lake Comabbio, Lake Monate and Lake Biandronno! and enjoy a breathtaking view simply climbing onto the “Cross” at 1492 meters above sea level…
My experience
And then I discovered that this mountain is well suited not only for children, but also for the family "including" grandchildren!. Now in this new role everything is "reinvented" and we look for places suitable for the newborn. In fact, thanks to the area, it is possible to wander. Let's start from the welcome. If in the past there were a couple of hotels, today we are talking about at least four. (so much for a "domestic" tourist place). And then the welcome of the sky area - New slopes have been opened thanks to the heavy snowfalls of recent days. To the traditional @Miramonti and to the @Casa delle Nevi which has a restaurant with local dishes (recommended tagliatelle with venison, polenta, and typical mountain game"), was joined by @laGenziana", more modern and perhaps frequented by "kids", as well as Villa Pizzini and thebars @Funivia, @Alpyland. But then with days like yesterday, the desire to stay in the sun... surpasses that of "holing up"... However, after the walk, the bee, you also have to "put" your legs under a table and then dedicate yourself to Riccardo, our puppy And after lunch to "work off" the goodness, a rigorous walk! and for those who have strength...the slopes await you!
The attractions: The Park
Biking, trekking, paragliding, climbing in summer and skiing or snowshoeing in winter are some of the activities within the Park of Mottarone.
Woods and paths present themselves as the perfect natural gym for experiencing sport in contact with the greenery of the mountain.
On two wheels, hanging from the carabiner or on skis, with a breathtaking view far from the frenzy of the city.
For those who want, there is also room for a tasty break. At the summit, in the various bars or mountain restaurants to taste the authentic flavors of the Lombardy-Piedmontese mountains.
Next to the Mottarone Adventure Park, in summer, the Bar Stazione is the meeting point for gourmet lunch breaks, snacks and aperitifs with 0 kilometer products.
The attractions: Mottarone Adventure Park
The Mottarone Adventure Park, including the Bar Stazione, are part of a broader project which concerns the recovery plan supported by Prince Vitaliano Borromeo to safeguard and enhance an ancient widespread heritage of traditional mountain architecture, located on the eastern side of Mottarone.
The interventions paid great attention to the ecological and faunal peculiarities of the area, in order to encourage the settlement and maintenance of local animal species, as well as improving, redeveloping and preserving the woodland surface.
A viewpoint over Lake Maggiore immersed in a unique and evocative natural environment is the scenery that surrounds the Mottarone Adventure Park.
A record-breaking mountain
Mottarone has a history full of important events. In 1909 one of the first Italian ski clubs was founded on the summit.
The first edition of an international ski race in Italy, the "Duce's Gold Cup" takes place here, in >1935. In the same year, the disciplines of springboard jumping and giant slalom were practiced for the first time in Italy in an official competition.
In the 1940s we see here the creation of the first rudimentary “sled lift”. lift system.
